St. Thomas Sunday School, functioning under the blessed wings of St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Muvattupuzha, is committed to nurturing a generation rooted in Christ, enriched in faith, and refined in character. Guided by the mission of OSSAE to instill in every child the unwavering conviction that Jesus Christ is the only Lord, Saviour and God, our Sunday School stands as a beacon of spiritual learning and Christian fellowship.

Since the formation of the Eastern Orthodox Syrian Sunday School Association (OSSAE) in 1964, the Church has embraced a renewed and dynamic model of Sunday School education—one that recognises the timeless glory of divine revelation while interpreting it meaningfully for the present generation. Inspired by the intimate relationship between our Lord and His disciples, we strive to shape students who not only learn about Christ, but also walk with Him.

With a rich legacy of nearly 50 years, St. Thomas Sunday School continues to remain the diocesan headquarters and a model centre for Orthodox Christian education. Under the leadership of Fr. Abraham Karamel (President), along with Mrs. Bindu Chandy (Secretary), Mrs. Sarakutty Varghese (Headmistress) and Mr. George P. A. (Assistant Headmaster), the school currently serves 119 students from Nursery to Grade 12, guided by 18 dedicated teachers.

Classes are held every Sunday from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, beginning with prayer and the reading of Holy Scripture, followed by two enriching learning sessions and a meaningful closing prayer. Beyond academic faith formation, we ensure holistic development through Bala Samajam activities, arts festivals, annual celebrations, OVBS programmes, and charity initiatives that nurture creativity, leadership, social concern and spiritual depth.

Our students actively participate—and excel—at parish and zonal level competitions, while also growing in compassion through service and outreach. Rooted in Orthodox tradition, yet open to the needs of the times, our mission is to shape children who love God, serve humanity, and shine as witnesses of Christ in the world.
