Vanitha Samajam

The Marthamariam Vanitha Samajam, the women’s fellowship of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, is the spiritual arm of the Church dedicated to prayer, service, and Christian witness. This esteemed organization has proudly completed 90 glorious years of vibrant ministry, guided by its noble motto — “Pray, Act, and Shine.”

Through the years, the Samajam has stood as a pillar of spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. Regular prayer groups, leadership camps, charitable initiatives, church services, and educational programs have all enriched the life and mission of this organization.

The Diocesan Vanitha Samajam itself has a rich history of over 60 years, and our Cathedral unit has continued to thrive as one of its most active and dedicated unitss, faithfully carrying forward the vision of the Church to empower women through faith and service.

The Samajam currently has 70 active members who continue to grow in faith and community life under the spiritual guidance of their clergy and office bearers.

Major Activities

1. Unit Meetings
Regular weekly online meetings are held every Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. These gatherings focus on Biblical study and spiritual enrichment. Under the guidance of Fr. Abraham Karamel, in-depth studies have been conducted on The Acts of the Apostles and The First Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians.

2. Charitable Works
The Samajam is deeply committed to Christian charity — extending help to the needy, supporting church welfare projects, and contributing to diocesan and global initiatives that uplift the poor and suffering.

3. Participation in Church Life
Members actively participate in diocesan and global level conferences, representing the parish and contributing to wider church discussions and mission activities.

4. Church-Level Initiatives
The Samajam plays a vital role in parish life by organizing and participating in:

  • Friday prayer meetings in collaboration with the Elders’ Forum.
  • OVBS (Orthodox Vacation Bible School) and other youth and family enrichment programs.
  • The Feast of St. Mary (September 8) celebrated annually under their leadership and devotion.
  • Participation in various Church examinations such as Veda Sameeksha and Sabha Vijnaneeya Sameeksha.
  • Pilgrimages, awareness programs, medical camps, and biblical study sessions conducted regularly for spiritual and social upliftment.

Our Vision

Rooted in prayer, sustained by faith, and inspired by the life and example of St. Mary, the Mother of God, the Marthamariam Vanitha Samajam of St. Thomas Cathedral, Muvattupuzha, continues to be a shining light in the parish — nurturing women to live as witnesses of Christ in their families, Church, and society.

With gratitude for the past and faith in the future, the Samajam remains committed to its sacred call to “Pray, Act, and Shine.”

The Martha Mariyam Vanitha Samajam, St. Thomas Cathedral Unit, warmly welcomes you to our weekly online fellowship.

Every Wednesday
8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

📖 From November 2025 onwards, our Bible study series will focus on the Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians.

We invite all members and well-wishers to join us with prayerful hearts as we grow together in the Word of God and Christian fellowship.
